Tips for Better Blogging

TW3-Marketing Better Blogging Tips

One of the benefits of a TW3 membership is having your own blog. Creating a blog is easy and I’ve found it to be one of the best ways to get free traffic to my website.

A blog also helps you:

  • Build a stronger relationship with your clients, customers and patients
  • Educate
  • Build trust
  • Give readers a look behind the curtain of your business
  • Generate new leads

Look, when done right, blogging is of tremendous value to your business. The problem is that most people don’t do it the right way.

Here are a few things to consider.

  1. Consistency. This is critical. Posts don’t do you any good if you do them every once and a while. Regular postings give your visitors a reason to come back to your website. That’s key. You have to do it on a regular basis. My goal is to put something up each and every day.
  2. Become a curator. When I first started blogging, I drove myself crazy trying to produce content. Then the light bulb went off. I spend a lot of time reading books, articles and other stuff. The idea was to pick best 1 or 2 articles I came across each week and post them. The logic being – if I find something interesting, there’s a pretty good chance somebody else will too.

What I do is add my thoughts about the article and then provide a link to the full article.

Adding content this way gives you content without having to produce it yourself and it’s a huge timesaver.

  1. Make it interesting. I used to think blogging was all about writing. It was when I first started, but stuff changes as time goes by. Think about all the content you consume and put those styles on your blog. I like to mix it up with videos, audio cuts and of course, the written word.

Doing this keeps my content from being boring. By keeping it fresh and interesting, you’ll keep people coming back for more.

  1. Interaction. Blogging gives me the ability to connect and interact with others. I like to ask questions along the way and encourage people to let me know what they think. Once somebody does comment, I get in the thread with them and do a deeper dive. It’s fun, engaging and raises you into the “expert” category, which is where you want to be. Interaction means being sociable which lends itself to social media. I like to weave my content through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

There’s a lot more than could be said about blogging. My best advice is this – just do it. Sit back, have some fun, post some content and before you know it, you’ll be an expert at it.
